Abstract

Hypertension, characterized by elevated blood pressure due to narrowed blood vessels or other disorders, can lead to organ damage and even death. Management involves pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. Laughter can aid in blood pressure control by reducing stress hormones and inducing relaxation. This case study aims to describe nursing care through laughter therapy to lower blood pressure in hypertensive individuals. Using a descriptive method with case studies, data were collected via interviews and observations. Laughter therapy was administered to two subjects for three days, resulting in decreased blood pressure for both. Subject I's blood pressure decreased from 150/90 mmHg on day one to 140/80 mmHg by day three, while Subject II exhibited a similar reduction from 150/90 mmHg to 140/80 mmHg over the same period. In conclusion, laughter therapy effectively reduces blood pressure in hypertensive individuals, offering a non-pharmacological approach for managing hypertension. It is recommended that patients consider implementing these findings as part of their blood pressure management strategy.
