Abstract

Gout or gouty arthritis  is a disease associated  with high levels of uric acid in the blood. Gout is also the most common non-communicable  disease  in Aceh with a  prevalence  of 13.3%.  If gout  is not treated,  it can  lead  to complications  such as kidney disease,  heart  disease,  and  diabetes  mellitus. Pineapple  juice is one of the herbs that can reduce uric acid in people with gout because it contains vitamin C which functions as an antioxidant which is useful for keeping purines from being produced into uric acid. The purpose of this research  is descriptive with a case study approach.  This study was conducted in the area  of Kopelma Darussalam health center,  Banda  Aceh city with an intervention given pineapple juice as much as 200 ml in the morning for 7 days which was carried  out on July 12-18, 2024 on 2 respondents.  The methods used were observation  sheets and interviews. The results showed that the application  of pineapple juice can reduce uric acid levels in both subjects, in subject l with uric acid levels from 8.8 mg/dl to 5.3 mg/dl and in subject ll there was a decrease  in uric acid levels from 7.6 mg/dl to 6.0 mg/dl. So it is concluded that pineapple juice is effective in reducing uric acid levels in people with gout. It is hoped that the application  of pineapple  juice can be applied as one of the non-pharmacological therapies to reduce uric acid levels in people with gout.
