Uric acid is a chemical compound formed in the body as the end product of purine metabolism, which
is a substance found in many foods and body cells. One intervention to reduce pain in gout sufferers is
the application of ginger compresses, which are believed to have several benefits in alleviating pain
due to the presence of gingerol and shogaol, compounds known for their heat and pungency. This
study aims to describe the application of ginger compresses in patients with gout. This research is
descriptive in nature, using a case study approach. The data collection techniques included the use of
informed consent forms, assessment sheets, observation sheets, ginger compress standard operating
procedures (SOPs), and the required materials. The study was conducted from February 25 to March
1, 2025, on two subjects in Cot Mesjid Village. The results showed that the pain scale of Subject I
decreased from 5 to 2 after the intervention. For Subject II, the pain scale decreased from 6 to 3.
These findings indicate that the application of ginger compresses is effective in reducing pain levels in
patients with gout. It is expected that this intervention can be considered as one of the complementary
methods to alleviate pain in individuals suffering from gout.
