Abstract

Background: Knowledge of DM patients about diet is a tool that can help patients carry out diabetes

management throughout their lives so that the more and better the patient understands about his disease,

the more he understands how to change his behavior and why it is necessary. Purpose: To see the

relationship between Knowledge and dietary compliance in DM patients in Dayah Baroe Village, Krueng

Sabee District, Aceh Jaya Regency. Method: This study uses an analytical method with a cross-sectional

study approach, with a population of 115 people, the sampling technique uses the Slovin formula so that

the sample is 89 people. Results: The majority of respondents have good knowledge of 61 people (68.5%)

and the majority of respondents have dietary compliance with the compliant category of 74 people

(83.1%), Based on the results of the Che Square test, P = Value 0.000 <0.05 is obtained. Conclusion:

There is a relationship between knowledge and dietary adherence in diabetes mellitus patients in Dayah

Baroe Village, Krueng Sabee District, Aceh Jaya Regency in 2023. Recommendation: It is hoped that

Dayah Baroe Village officials can provide health education, both in the form of seminars and leaflet

distribution, regarding diabetes mellitus.
