The smoking behavior of adolescents is increasing day by day, this makes us concerned about the risk of increasing teenage morbidity and mortality due to smoking. One of the factors for adolescents smoking according to Bandura is because of self-efficacy. The element of self-efficacy is performance accomplishment, which is thought to be closely related to adolescent smoking behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between performance accomplishment and adolescent smoking behavior in high schools in Banda Aceh. This research was conducted on April 16 to April 23 2015. The data collection instrument used a questionnaire in the form of a Likert scale statement which was compiled based on general perceived self-efficacy, especially performance accomplishment. The population in this study amounted to 4856 students from thirteen high schools in Banda Aceh. The number of samples included was 368 students taken proportionally. The research design was analytic observational with stratified random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20.00. The bivariate test analysis used was the chi-square test because the data were categorical. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between adolescent self-efficacy and adolescent smoking behavior P = 0.0001 and there was a significant relationship between performance accomplishment and adolescent smoking behavior P = 0.0001. From the research results, it can be concluded that performance accomplishment is closely related to teenage smoking behavior. It is hoped that policy makers, especially schools, can increase adolescent self-efficacy through increasing adolescent performance with extracurricular activities, so that youth performance increases so that smoking behavior can be prevented.
