Abstract

Implementing effective communication during bedside handover is not felt optimally by the patient because the patient does not involve during bedside handover communication especially when health care planning. The purpose of this study was to identify the association bedside handover communication with patient satisfaction at the hospital in Banda Aceh and to recognize the most dominant factor in influencing patient satisfaction (n = 383). The results showed that there was a significant correlation between communication during bedside handover perceived by patient, age, and length of stay with patient satisfaction at the hospitals in Banda Aceh. The conclusion of the research showed that the application of every phase of effective communication during bedside handover by nurse influence perception and patient satisfaction. The results of this study can be considered nursing managers in improving the quality of communication during bedside handover with observing the implementation of bedside handover, actuating staff to provide effective communication technique and adequate information, and supporting the patient involvement during bedside handover process.
