APPLICATION OF ALOE VERA DECOCTION IN LOWERING BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS IN BANDA ACEH CITY

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a group of diseases with insulin secretion disorders, which clinically appear when the body is no longer able to produce resistant insulin. The application of aloe vera decoction can reduce blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This study describe the application of aloe vera decoction in reducing blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This type of research is descriptive using a case study approach method. Data collection techniques through interviews and observations. Respondents in this study were 2 people with diabetes with the criteria of cooperative and willing subjects, age range 40-60 years, suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, blood glucose levels ? 200 mg/dl, subjects who did not take pharmacological drugs, and did not have allergies to aloe vera. The results showed that the blood sugar level before the intervention in subject I was 360 mg/dl and subject II was 344 mg/dl. Blood sugar levels after intervention in subject I were 172 mg/dl and subject II were 185 mg/dl. This study proves that the application of aloe vera decoction can reduce blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It is hoped that this aloe vera decoction can be used as one of the interventions in reducing blood glucose levels in patients with Diabetes Melius Type 2.
