Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease caused by metabolic disorders where blood sugar levels are above the normal range, because the body does not produce enough insulin or the body does not respond to insulin properly. The application of moringa leaf decoction is carried out to reduce blood glucose levels in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. This study aims to describe the application of moringa leaf decoction in reducing blood glucose levels in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. This type of research is descriptive using a case study approach method. Data collection techniques through interviews and observations. Respondents in this study were 2 people with diabetes with the criteria of cooperative and willing subjects, suffering from Type II Diabetes Mellitus, blood glucose levels> 200mg/dL, age range> 45 years, and no complications. The results showed that blood sugar levels before the intervention in subject I were 444 mg/dl and subject II was 294 mg/dl. Blood sugar levels after the intervention in subject I were 107 mg/dl and subject II were 181 mg/dl. This study proves that the application of moringa leaf decoction can reduce blood glucose levels in Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients. It is hoped that this research can be used as one of the interventions in reducing blood glucose levels in Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients.
