Application of Coloring Play Therapy in Reducing Hospitalization Anxiety

Pre-school children are characterized by physical, motor and social development. A good level of development helps in children's emotional problems including when experiencing anxiety. Hospitalization is a situation that requires children to stay at home to undergo treatment at the hospital. The impact of anxiety from hospitalization that is not handled immediately makes children reject care and treatment measures. One way to treat hospitalization anxiety is by providing coloring therapy. Coloring therapy can have the effect of increasing the hormone edorphine to make someone feel happy in reducing the level of hospitalization anxiety in children. This type of research is descriptive with a case study approach in 2 subjects at the ibu dan anak meurxsa hospital district Banda Aceh City which was carried out for 3 days on 19-21 July 2024. Data collection methods with interviews and observation sheets. Data collection tools include Informed Consent, observation sheets, SCAS and FIS Questionnaire sheets. The results showed that the application of coloring play therapy can reduce the level of hospitalization anxiety in both subjects, FIS subject l from 4 to 1, SCAS from 38 to 7 and FIS subject ll from 5 to 1, SCAS from 41 to 11. it is concluded that coloring play therapy is effective in reducing the level of hospitalization anxiety in children. The application of coloring therapy can be applied as a nonpharmacological therapy for children.
