Hypertension is an increase in systolic blood pressure of ?140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of
?90 mmHg. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be used is the administration of
papaya juice. Papaya has a diuretic effect that helps reduce the workload of the heart by increasing
the excretion of water and sodium, thereby lowering blood pressure. This study aims to determine the
application of papaya juice in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The type of research
used was descriptive with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews and
observations before and after therapy, using assessment sheets, observation sheets, and the Standard
Operating Procedure (SOP) for papaya juice administration. The study was conducted on April 5–11,
2025, in Gampong Jeulingke, Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh City, with papaya juice given in the
afternoon for seven days. The results showed a decrease in blood pressure in both subjects: subject I
from 150/100 mmHg to 130/80 mmHg, and subject II from 150/90 mmHg to 130/80 mmHg. In
conclusion, papaya juice is effective in lowering blood pressure and can be applied as a non-
pharmacological therapy beneficial for the community. This therapy can also be performed
independently by families to help control hypertension.
